Today is that Day that Starts with V
by rachelxsarah
Judging from the divided opinions of my non single and single friends that ‘V’ stands for either Valentines, or Vendetta.
To be honest, I think both opinions are highly over rated. Yes, I do dabble in Valentines Day cards. I usually look for something that expresses the personality of the person I am giving it to. I also only give them if the moment stirs me. For example, I gave a Nightmare of Elm Street ecard to an old friend. We discovered the series together as children, and, thanks to facebook, we are reconnecting again. I knew it would make her laugh, so I sent it to her. Beyond that I don’t put much stock into the day. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite, but we all are in some way.
What I think is we should be able to find love, feel it, express it, everyday. Be that love for your partner, friend, parent, cat, or even yourself.
And, if you are in a relationship, please don’t wait for just one day a year to express your love. The most romantic moment in my current relationship happened on a random rainy night. We were sitting in the car right after getting home from work. We were delaying leaving the car since it was raining pretty hard. I teased him that he wasn’t really romantic. He got quiet for a moment, and took a deep breath. He started the car and mutter to himself something about showing me. He drove us to the local grocery store and told me to wait in the car. I waited as he ran out in the pouring rain only to return a few moments later with a bouquet of red roses. With a proud smile he asked me if that was romantic enough.
That happened on just any given day. I continue to try my best to show my love to all those I care for as often as possible.
“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.” -Kurt Vonnegut
That is all I feel like writing for today.
Until Tomorrow.

I am (finally) getting to reading ALL your babbles, not just one or two here and there. Just LOVE that Vonnegut quote, Rachel. It is so very important to not let “life” turn us into jaded, bitter old people. I enjoy your musings. Thank you xo
Thanks! I will do my best to continue to write.
